Always believe in yourself

My sister is always a great teacher for me....
Few months ago, I asked her a question :

Me: Will I be successful in future? How can I achieve my goals?
Sis: Always believe in yourself , look , recall few years back, where were you,   what were you doing.Compared to now, where are you ? Who are you ? What you are doing ?

When I was in Form 1 (13 years old) , I would say I was a failure, I mixed with bad people in school ( My secondary school is the worst school in Daerah Gombak, full of gangsters, PMR Trial Exam Passing Rate in 2004 was just 19% , imagine, 81% of students could not pass all subjects in PMR Trial Exam).

My results fell at the range of 60+ average... My hope was to maintain 60 average.... I never studied... I did not even know today was the exam day until I saw people arranging tables, I asked my friends : Hey, Hari ini ujian ?

This situation continued until Form 2... One day, My dad told me : Boy, Why don't you do some revision of your homework, it's good, maybe just for 30 minutes?

I also did not know why, I listened to my dad, I took up a book - Sejarah Form 2 to read. LOL , that's why I love History... First test approached,  I scored the highest mark in the whole form. (I was still in Class B at that time)

As I told, my secondary school is the worst school in Daerah, all people spoke Malay, very few of them were speaking English. So, my English was poor. I still remember one of the tests that I sat, the question was asking to fill in the blank (I was required to fill present / pass tenses) ... You know how many questions I answered correctly ?  I think should be one or two out of 15 questions. LOL

In Form 3, I did not even know how to differentiate active and passive sentences...

Example:
Active:   I kick the cat.
Passive : The cat is kicked by me.
I answered the question, I was kicked by the car.  LOL

I put determination in learning English.... Today, I would not say my English is good, but, it's already much more better compared to my secondary time. You could hardly get grammatical mistakes in my sentences. >.<  (does not mean no)

When I was in Form 1, my results fell in the range of 50-60.
When I was in Form 1, I never studied.
When I was in Form 1, my English was poor.

When I was in Form 5, my results fell in the range of 75-85.
When I was in Form 5, I was the top student in my school.
When I was in Form 5, my English was improved.

It took me few years to transform from a poor student to a good student.

Always believe in yourself:
When you were 0 year old, you could not even walk , you could not even speak.
Now, you could walk, jump , run....
Now, you could speak, sing, you could command few languages somemore...

Now, you are 20, you are uncertain about your future, recall back to your secondary school days, what were you, did you improve?

If 10 more years are given to you, you are then 30 years old, would you be a better guy?

How about 10 more years? You are now 40, it's the start of golden age of a man. Could you achieve something better?

Thanks to my dad and sis. Without them, I don't know where would I be now. You would not be seeing me blogging. I might not be studying in Uni.

So, always believe in yourself? You could achieve something big.... right? XD

Pipit Wonderful Market

7 May 2011, The Sixth Pipit Wonderful Market was held at Annexe Gallery.

"Pipit is a worldwide art portal , creative community and platform that was initiated as a means to encourage and support independent artists and designer internationally. Building networks and friendships in the field of art and design, organizing exhibitions, conducting design research and disseminating news and information about design and creative endevours are Pipit’s main activities." - taken from Pipit website.(can ignore this part if u feel it's too long)

Basically, Pipit Market is a place where designers, artists, and crafters meet , exhibiting, presenting or selling their crafts to people.

You can get some unique stuff here, I think no design is repeated (not sure)....
Most of the things you buy is the ONE and ONLY design in the world...

Before entering Central Market, taken at Kasturi Walk.
Kasturi Walk has its official opening in February this year (if not mistaken)... This is my first visit to the place....

Own opinion
- all the giant Wau is a waste of money (government should spend the money wisely ?)
- all stalls are normal, selling normal stuff ....zzz
- conclusion, this walk has nothing different after the renovation/upgrading (except those big giant Wau and the design of stalls)...totally a waste of money....

Artistic Ewai and Foochow Ah Pang XD (am I turning to be a gay soon ?)
The Entrance- Those people standing there are our UTAR Graphic Design Students, they are promoting their ARTiculation exhibition which will be held on 26June 2011
More info about ARTICULATION ?
http://www.facebook.com/ARTiculation2011?sk=info
They need a job after graduation, so they will have an exhibition at the same place to seek for job opportunities.GOOD LUCK!!!

Feel like the Pipit 5 was better...It had more crafts to be exhibited (bloody baby, artist's skin)
Dollhouses in Pipit 5 were also more detailed, we could see the menu in a toy restaurant.

Pipit 6 is more commercial now by having more stalls selling crafts.....

Before and After Pipit Market

Would like to share some random shots before and after Pipit Market (These photos can't be categorized as Pipit photos)

Waiting for Teck Wei, Ah Pang , Kheng Hooi, 慧霞 at LRT Station with Mei Sze

Malaysian leaving LRT

Super like the girl sitting at most left, her 迷惘的眼神 , her 招风耳 attracted me XD

I was wondering if my 18-55mm could do any street photography....
It seems to be ok right?

羊豆腐 @ 中华巷

羊豆腐 ? It's not typo... I purposely did it....

Why I call 酿豆腐 as 羊豆腐 ?

It's because of my Cantonese accent...

In Cantonese , 酿豆腐 is pronounced as "Yong Tau Fu" ,羊 (goat) is also pronounced as "Yong".... So, when I speak Mandarin, "Yong" becomes "Yang" ,羊 (goat) is pronounced as "Yang" in Mandarin, so I would tell people that I want to have "Yang Dou Fu" / 羊豆腐 sometimes. LOL

Today, 7 MAY 2011

We (Teck Wei , Ah Pang, Kheng Hooi, Mei Sze , 慧霞 and I ) dropped by the 酿豆腐 stall located at 中华巷 near Petaling Street to have our lunch before going to Pipit Market.

I seldom eat Yong Tau Fu outside as I can have nice Yong Tau Fu at home.
(Yong Tau Fu made by my aunt is nice + potion is big + FOC ) - you know the reason now.

I only visit 2 Yong Tau Fu stalls in KL. One is this 中华巷酿豆腐 and the other one is the 酿豆腐 stall opposite to Hospital Tentera at Section 2 , Wangsa Maju.

This has been the Nth times I visited this place... I have been visiting here since I was Form 3 (7 years ago). This stall contains a lot of good memories of mine. I used to visiting this place last time with my secondary school days tuition buddies - Thiam Hock, Jasvin , and Ian. Thiam Hock and I used to acting "sohai" in tuition classes.

The price of Yong Tau Fu also increased from RM0.70 per piece until RM1.00 per piece nowadays.

Lousy pictures (suck angle), just realized I did not shoot the photos of food after eating few pieces. >.< I know I am not a good food blogger.

This lunch was not so satisfactory (no wonder ah pang did not eat much ) as the ingredient put had already been reduced... Price goes up everywhere, they need to reduce the cost too....

However, enjoyed having the lunch with you all.

What to do while you are shooting stars?

Suddenly have this thought to write about what to do while you are shooting stars....

Especially when you are alone....

I used to shooting stars alone as I don't have any star chaser friend near my place.

Some facts you need to know while shooting stars alone:
1.)It's very lonely cz you are alone =.=
2.)Mosquitoes will be accompanying you
3.)You will feel unsecured. (afraid of robbery- applicable in Malaysia only , ghosts, spirits, animals....)
4.)It's scary (cz we need a dark place to shoot stars , dark place got many ..... )

What we can do ?
1.) Call someone to chat.
- If you are doing startrail whereby you are required to shoot continuously for more than 20 minutes, calling your friends to chat is one of the good options....

2.) Learn zodiac/constellation
- Do it if you have "starwalk" app in your iphone or skymap or whatever in your android.
- I have learned how to see Virgo, Ursa Major , Scorpio , Gemini , Leo and more....
- W/o involving in photography, I would know how to see Orion only. XD

3.) Praying
- Praying for what? Hoping clouds won't appear and ruin your starstrail

4.) Looking Around
- Must be aware of snakes, dogs, cats, (they might scare you)
- Scared of ghost (dark place, you are alone, what else you can think ? )
- Scared of good people ( cz you might scare them, then they might treat you as a thief or mad guy )
- Scared of bad people ( as they might hurt you)

5.) Scratching
- Thanks to lovely mosquitoes ( You will get bitten even you have repellent applied.

6.) Doing some planning
- While shooting continuously , it's kind a waste of time.
- You can do some planning using this time.

Star Walk (a must have app for star chasers)

An emo night?

OMG!!! I was emo after gaming with my buddies. Emo would find me too >.< Although I always tell people that I don't / seldom emo. (Don't relate me to what I posted on my Facebook wall, I copied most of the posts from my friend , more than 90% of it)

To be exact, it was not emo..... Just felt a bit of emptiness.... Maybe due to the argument with my friend.

After chatting with some friends through MSN, my stars chasing mood came, so I went out to chase stars.(Sky was clear + milky way was up)

I went to 2 locations

First Location :
A dark place at Selayang

can see the center? There is smtg like smooth , milk, cloud... That's milky way

Second Location:
Roadside heading to Rawang

Milky way crossing from top left ( there is smtg like smoke, cloud, milk)

I snapped milky way successfully (my 2nd time) , but this is not what I want.... I need to learn more post processing skills to "drag" the milky way out. XD

***No 自拍 photos ... I don't want "someone" appear in my photo... haha... these places are dark and I was alone.... I was thinking except mosquitoes, "they" might be watching me to shoot too. XD

Saigon Village Restaurant

Today, I went to visit Saigon Village Restaurant located at Jalan Barat, off Jalan Imbi for Vietnamese Cuisine with Mei Sze,Sally, Kheng Hooi and Teck Wei. Teck Wei did not follow as he ffk-ed us at last minute.

We ordered : 1.) Mixed Grill Platter
             2.) Vietnamese 猪肠粉
             3.) Vietnamese Fried Keuy Theow
             4.) Mango Salad
             5.) Grilled Pork with Crackers

 Mixed Grill Platter (Price: RM28.80)

-Basically, it's Vietnamese Popiah...It's served with a plate of "plastic" or rice paper, spring roll, grilled pork, grilled beef, Vietnamese beehoon, raw vegetables, sprouts and cane prawn.

How to eat?

1.)Firstly, dip rice paper into warm water (1 second) to soften it, or else the rice paper is just like plastic
2.)Put the rice paper on plate
3.)Put some beehoon and raw vegetable on it
4.)Put some meat
5.)Apply source ( fish sauce and sweet sauce , 1 spoon each)
6.)Put sprout
7.)Wrap it and roll it up
8.)Put it into your mouth

**We do not need to wrap spring roll and cane prawn, we can have it directly.

-A very dish, the taste is perfect with meat, vegetable and sauce wrapped in a roll.<3

Grilled Pork with Crackers (Price : RM 5.50)

- Grilled pork on top of cracker
-Not bad, crispy cracker with well grilled pork

 Vietnamese 猪肠粉

- 猪肠粉 with sauce, sprout and prawn wrapped in it
- Similar to the usual Chinese 猪肠粉

Mango Salad (Price: RM9.80)

- Mango Salad with some shrimps on it
- Personally think that this dish is expensive as only few shrimps are given.

Vietnamese Fried Keuy Theow (Price: RM10.90)

- could choose to cook with seafood or beef (we chose seafood)
- I love this very much as every single keuy theow is 撑着蛋 <3

The service here is good, we enjoyed the dinner very much. The waiter asked us to wash hands before dining (as we need to use hand to roll popiah). He also taught us how to wrap and roll a popiah. The most important thing is, he said I am a nice guy as I know where to hunt for good foods. XD

As a conclusion, this is a must place to introduce to your friends to have Vietnamese Cuisine. Food quality is good, service is good, environment is good (clean + Vietnamese songs) and price is reasonable. The total bill is RM98.23, it's about RM25 per person.

We headed to Times Square after that to do some shopping. Mei Sze spent RM135 for her clothes and she was happy for that.I also got my backpack with reasonable price. Thanks Kheng Hooi for choosing a nice bag for me.

***Not much photos taken as I needed to use hands to roll popiah, I don't want to touch my camera with my oily hands. XD sorry about that.
